From Chengdu, we land at Gongar Airport and arrive at Tsedang, the city of the Lokha Prefecture. From there we go to Gyantse and the oldest Tibetan Monastery founded by Tibet’s “Second Religious King”. We drive to Shigatse and visit Tashilumpo Monastery, the seat of Panchen Lama and the oldest monastery in the region of Shigatse. From Shigatse we drive to Lhasa and for two full days we ramble through the ancient Bharkor Market agog with treasures. We gaze respectfully at the Jokhang Temple, where a million pilgrims have been blessed and then we go to Sera and Drepung monasteries, famous for their antiquity. Lastly,but the most maginificent, is the Potala Palace-the erstwhile home of Dalai Lama-which looms large over the city of Lhasa. A short distance away is the Norbulingka Palace, exquisite in its pastoral setting. Too soon, we are on day 9 and we reluctantly leave the magic and mystery of Tibet to fly to Chengdu (or Kathmandu) The souvenirs and memories will last a lifetime.

Itinerary

Day 1: Chengdu
Arrive in Chengdu. Met and transfer to the centrally located historic Jinjiang Hotel an overnight stay. Free leisure to explore the city in the evening.

Day 2: Chengdu / Lhasa / Tsedang
After an early morning flight to Gonggar airport, we drive overland to
Tsedang, Tibet’s pre-Buddhist center of culture. Free at leisure in the afternoon.Overnight at Tsedang Hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 3: Tsedang
Here we visit the tombs of the Tibetan kings and the ancient fortress of
Yumbulakang. If time permits, we will also visit a Tibetan family. Overnight at Tsedang Hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Tsedang / Gyantse
Today we travel overland along the southern corridor highway, travelling through the spectacular scenery of the Karo La and Kamba La mountain passes with their stunning views. We arrive in Gyantse. site of the sacred Kumbum Stupa. Stay overnight at Gyantse Guest House. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Gyantse / Shigatse
Drive overland to Shigatse where we see the Tashilumpo Monastery, seat of the Yellow-Hat panchan Lamas and one of the most beautiful Tibetan architecture. Stay overnight at Manasarovar Hotel. (B, L,D)

Day 6: Shigatse / Lhasa
Drive overland to Lhasa wtih stops en route. Arrive back Lhasa in the late afternoon. Evening special dinner with Tibetan Dance & Music. Stay at centrally located tibetan style Kyichu Hotel for three nights. (B, L, D)

Day 7-8: Lhasa
The unforgettable highlights include the towering Potala Palace, sacred
Jokhang, Drepung and Sera monasteries, and colorful Barkhor Bazaar. (B, L,D)

Day 9 Lhasa /Chengdu
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to Chengdu.Arrive Chengdu. Continue your journey to other part of Asia. (B)
